John 10:22–39

For those who fail to keep Passover at the appointed time in Month 1, the Scripture provides for a second Passover and Unleavened Bread observance that starts today.

Numbers 9:6-14

Num 9:6  But there were men who were defiled for a being of a man, so that they were not able to perform the Passover on that day. So they came before Mosheh and Aharon that day,

Num 9:7  and those men said to him, “We are defiled for the being of a man. Why are we withheld from bringing near the offering of יהוה at its appointed time among the children of Yisra’ĕl?”

Num 9:8  And Mosheh said to them, “Wait, let me hear what יהוה commands concerning you.”

Num 9:9  And יהוה spoke to Mosheh, saying,

Num 9:10  “Speak to the children of Yisra’ĕl, saying, ‘When any male of you or your generations is unclean1 for a being, or is far away on a journey, he shall still perform the Passover of יהוה. Footnote: 1Defilement can be imparted from one to another.

Num 9:11  ‘On the fourteenth day of the second month, between the evenings, they perform it – with unleavened bread and bitter herbs they eat it.

Num 9:12  ‘They do not leave of it until morning, and they do not break a bone of it. According to all the laws of the Passover they perform it.

Num 9:13  ‘But the man who is clean and is not on a journey, and has failed to perform the Passover, that same being shall be cut off from among his people, because he did not bring the offering of יהוה at its appointed time – that man bears his sin.

Num 9:14  ‘And when a stranger sojourns among you, then he shall perform the Passover of יהוה. He shall do so according to the law of the Passover and according to its right-ruling. You have one law, both for the stranger and the native of the land.’ ”

2 Chronicles 29:1-27

2Ch 29:1  Ḥizqiyahu began to reign when he was twenty-five years old, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Yerushalayim. And his mother’s name was Aḇiyah the daughter of Zeḵaryahu.

2Ch 29:2  And he did what was right in the eyes of יהוה, according to all that his father Dawiḏ did.

2Ch 29:3  In the first year of his reign, in the first month, he opened the doors of the House of יהוה and repaired them,

2Ch 29:4  and brought in the priests and the Lĕwites, and gathered them in the open place to the east.

2Ch 29:5  And he said to them, “Listen to me, O Lĕwites! Now set yourselves apart, set apart the House of יהוה Elohim of your fathers, and remove the uncleanness from the set-apart place.

2Ch 29:6  “For our fathers have trespassed and have done evil in the eyes of יהוה our Elohim, and have forsaken Him, and have turned their faces away from the Dwelling Place of יהוה, and have given their backs.

2Ch 29:7  “And they have shut the doors of the porch, and put out the lamps, and they have not burned incense or offered burnt offerings in the set-apart place to the Elohim of Yisra’ĕl.

2Ch 29:8  “Therefore the wrath of יהוה fell upon Yehuḏah and Yerushalayim, and He has given them up for a trembling, for an astonishment, and for a hissing, as you see with your eyes.

2Ch 29:9  “And see, because of this our fathers have fallen by the sword. And our sons, and our daughters, and our wives are in captivity for this.

2Ch 29:10  “Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl, so that the heat of His wrath turns away from us.

2Ch 29:11  “My sons, do not be slack, for יהוה has chosen you to stand before Him, to serve Him, and to be attendants for Him and burn incense.”

2Ch 29:12  And the Lĕwites rose up: Maḥath son of Amasai and Yo’ĕl son of Azaryahu, of the sons of the Qehathites; and of the sons of Merari, Qish son of Aḇdi and Azaryahu son of Yehallel’ĕl; and of the Gĕreshonites, Yo’aḥ son of Zimmah and Ěḏen son of Yo’aḥ;

2Ch 29:13  and of the sons of Elitsaphan, Shimri and Yeʽi’ĕl; and of the sons of Asaph, Zeḵaryahu and Mattanyahu;

2Ch 29:14  and of the sons of Hĕman, Yeḥi’ĕl and Shimʽi; and of the sons of Yeḏuthun, Shemayah and Uzzi’ĕl.

2Ch 29:15  And they gathered their brothers, and set themselves apart, and went according to the command of the sovereign, at the words of יהוה, to cleanse the House of יהוה.

2Ch 29:16  And the priests came into the inner part of the House of יהוה to cleanse it, and brought out all the uncleanness they found in the Hĕḵal of יהוה to the courtyard of the House of יהוה. Then the Lĕwites received it to take it outside to the wadi Qiḏron.

2Ch 29:17  And they began to set apart on the first day of the first month, and on the eighth day of the month they came to the porch of יהוה. And they set apart the House of יהוה in eight days, and on the sixteenth day of the first month they had finished.

2Ch 29:18  Then they came in to Sovereign Ḥizqiyahu and said, “We have cleansed all the House of יהוה, and the altar of burnt offerings with all its utensils, and the table of the showbread with all its utensils.

2Ch 29:19  “And all the utensils which Sovereign Aḥaz in his reign had pushed aside, when he trespassed, we have prepared and set apart. And see, they are before the altar of יהוה.”

2Ch 29:20  And Sovereign Ḥizqiyahu rose up early, and gathered the heads of the city, and went up to the House of יהוה.

2Ch 29:21  And they brought seven bulls, and seven rams, and seven lambs, and seven male goats for a sin offering for the reign, for the set-apart place, and for Yehuḏah. And he said to the priests, the sons of Aharon, to offer them on the altar of יהוה.

2Ch 29:22  So they slaughtered the bulls, and the priests received the blood and sprinkled it on the altar. And they slaughtered the rams and sprinkled the blood on the altar. And they slaughtered the lambs and sprinkled the blood on the altar.

2Ch 29:23  And they brought out the male goats of the sin offering before the sovereign and the assembly, and they laid their hands on them,

2Ch 29:24  and the priests slaughtered them, and with their blood made a sin offering on the altar, to make an atonement for all Yisra’ĕl, for the sovereign said that the burnt offering and the sin offering is for all Yisra’ĕl.

2Ch 29:25  And he appointed the Lĕwites in the House of יהוה with cymbals, with harps, and with lyres, according to the command of Dawiḏ, and of Gaḏ, seer of the sovereign, and of Nathan the prophet, for the command was by the hand of יהוה, by the hand of His prophets.

2Ch 29:26  And the Lĕwites stood with the instruments of Dawiḏ, and the priests with the trumpets.

2Ch 29:27  And Ḥizqiyahu gave the order to offer the burnt offering on the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the singing unto יהוה began, with the trumpets and with the instruments of Dawiḏ sovereign of Yisra’ĕl.

John 10:22–39

Joh 10:22  At that time the Ḥanukkah came to be in Yerushalayim, and it was winter.

Joh 10:23  And יהושע was walking in the Set-apart Place, in the porch of Shelomoh.

Joh 10:24  So the Yehuḏim surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, say to us plainly.”

Joh 10:25  יהושע answered them, “I have told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s Name, they bear witness concerning Me.

Joh 10:26  “But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you.

Joh 10:27  “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.1 Footnote: 1Rev. 14:4-5.

Joh 10:28  “And I give them everlasting life, and they shall by no means ever perish, and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.

Joh 10:29  “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. And no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Joh 10:30  “I and My Father are one.”1 Footnote: 1See 17:11, 17:21-23.

Joh 10:31  Again the Yehuḏim picked up stones to stone Him.

Joh 10:32  יהושע answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. Because of which of these works do you stone Me?”

Joh 10:33  The Yehuḏim answered Him, saying, “We do not stone You for a good work, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself Elohim.”

Joh 10:34  יהושע answered them, “Is it not written in your own Torah, ‘I said, “You are elohim” ’?

Joh 10:35  “If He called them elohim, to whom the word of Elohim came – and it is impossible for the Scripture to be broken –

Joh 10:36  do you say of Him whom the Father set apart and sent into the world, ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of Elohim’?

Joh 10:37  “If I do not do the works of My Father, do not believe Me;

Joh 10:38  but if I do, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you know and believe that the Father is in Me, and I in Him.”

Joh 10:39  Therefore they were seeking again to seize Him, but He went forth out of their hand,
